Lucy and Igloo

Lucy is a 47-pound, 6-year-old foxhound who was recently surrendered to the county shelter because she was too much for the owner to handle. She is a social girl who can be anxious at times. Lucy would do well in a calm and quiet home with someone who has the patience and time to dedicate to her. She does not get along with cats or other dogs and because of her demeanor a home with young adults or older would be best. Lucy’s adoption fee is $35 and she is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed.

igloo

Igloo is patiently waiting at the shelter for someone to take him home. He is a dignified older fellow, and he would love to live out the rest of his years in a cozy house. Igloo is a large, all white, domestic short hair cat. He is declawed, loves attention, and could be petted all day. Igloo’s adoption fee is $20 and he is up-to-date with routine shots and neutered.

Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 110 Shelter Road in the Crest Haven Complex, is open Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on legal holidays. Call 465-8923 for any questions about adopting and the animals available for adoption at the County Shelter also have profiles and photographs on Petfinder.com.

Misty

Misty delights the volunteers at Animal Welfare Society with her gentle playfulness, say shelter employees.  She has a very sweet manner and her lush gray fur resembles that of a Russian blue.  Misty also has a brother whom she runs around, plays, and snuggles with. “It would be nice if they could be adopted together but they can be adopted separately,” say shelter volunteers. Misty is house trained, up-to-date with vaccinations and soon to be altered. Visit Misty at AWS Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment, at 40 Route 47 South in Dias Creek. Call 465-3403 for additional information. Animals up for adoption at AWS can also be found at Petfinder.com. Animal Welfare Society only adopts to Cape May County residents who allow for veterinary references and home checks.
