The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce held their annual installation dinner recently at the Ocean City Yacht Club. With six inches of snow on the ground and most businesses closed all day, the big question was whether to cancel the dinner or not.

It seems the board made the right decision to hold the dinner as scheduled as everyone showed up plus a few additional guests to boot. I guess everyone including this columnist had cabin fever and couldn’t wait to get out of the house.

It was a cold, sunny day when I arrived at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Bay Avenue for the Garden Club’s monthly luncheon meeting.

Donna Halper had the back of her SUV open unloading bags of fashion magazines, so I lent her a hand carrying them inside. Jeanne Robinson, sporting her apron celebrating the Garden Club’s 40th anniversary, was near the door to greet me when I arrived. Jeanne provided the flowers and Valentine’s Day decorations on the dessert table. Marie Platzer served as official greeter while Lorraine Scott distributed name tags to members.
