The Brigantine branch of the Atlantic County Library will offers a Healthy Homes Workshop 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4. The one-hour community education session will be presented by the Mental Health Association in Atlantic County/SNJPC and will discuss the seven principles of a healthy home, identified by the National Center for Healthy Housing. Participants learn the process of safely cleaning up after storm and water damage. The workshop is open to adults residing or working in Atlantic County. Registration is required. For more information call 609-266-0110.

Catholic Daughters March Meeting

The Catholic Daughters will resume their monthly meetings beginning 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 at St. Phillips Hall, Eighth and Brigantine avenues.

Powerboats set to “Roar” again June 19-21 Powerboats set to “Roar” again June 19-21 The Atlantic City Sports Commission, powered by Meet AC, has partnered with the Atlantic City Offshore Grand Prix to bring back one of the biggest offshore powerboat races around, “Roar at the Jersey Shore,” set for June 19-21.

The fastest boats in the world will return to Atlantic City’s beaches for the third year in a row with the support of GEICO, the Atlantic City Sports Commission and the Golden Nugget Hotel, Casino and Marina.

World Marriage Month

To honor the sacrament of matrimony there will be a renewal of vows and a blessing for all couples Feb. 14 and 15 at each Mass. In the spirit of the month-long celebration we will again put our parishioner's wedding photos on display in the church. Please drop off your photo at the parish office, and include your name and phone number.

Beef and beer wrap-up

Our party last weekend was a huge success, and our thanks go out to all the volunteers who graciously gave of their time and talents, and to all who came out to enjoy themselves.

St. Blaise and the Super Bowl

We invoke St. Blaise to protect us from diseases of the throat, and we celebrate his feast day this weekend. So, especially during this cold and flu season, come to St. Thomas Saturday or Sunday, Jan. 31 or Feb. 1 to receive a throat blessing after any Mass. After the throat blessing stop by the youth group table in the rear of the church to buy some homemade desserts for your Super Bowl party.

The committee thanks Maddog Morgan's for a great night last Friday. Good food and good friends make for a great time.

BRIGANTINE - Those who work out on a rowing machine are invited to test their endurance by competing in the Greenhead Sprints Indoor Rowing Regatta on Saturday, March 7 in Brigantine.

Athletes will row 2,000 meters on Concept II rowing machines, competing against others in the same age, sex and weight categories.

The BB Lighthouse Players have started rehearsing for their latest production, “Rumors,” a sophisticated comedy by Neil Simon. 

A great cast of talented actors is gearing up for a wonderful production, which will be staged at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1501 W. Brigantine Ave.

The BB Lighthouse Players have held auditions for our new play "Rumors" by Neil Simon, to be presented Feb. 27 and 28 and March 1, 6, 7 and 8 at the Brigantine Community Presbyterian Church. The Friday and Saturday night performances start 8 p.m., and the Sunday matinees begin 2 p.m.

Brigantine CER is sponsoring a Broadway show trip to ‘Honeymoon in Vegas’ Wednesday, April 22, in New York City.

“Honeymoon in Vegas” tells the story of Jack Singer, a regular guy with an extraordinary fear of marriage who finally gets up the nerve to ask his girlfriend Betsy to marry him. But when they head to Las Vegas to get hitched, smooth-talking gambler Tommy Karman, looking for a second chance of love, falls head over heels for Betsy. What happens next is anybody’s bet.

The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation Department is sponsoring an Alaska Northern Glacier Cruise on the Celebrity Millennium Aug. 14-24. The trip will include a three-day land package to Denali, Anchorage, Talkeetna and Seward.

It will depart from Philadelphia airport and arrive in Vancouver, where the group will board. A special rate is being offered to the first 22 people who sign up.

ATLANTIC CITY – After 30 years of touring the state with the beloved holiday classic, the Atlantic City Ballet announced that it will perform “The Nutcracker” Dec. 18-23 in Atlantic City.

The ballet will be presented with live accompaniment by the Garden State Philharmonic at the Claridge Hotel Celebrity Theater, Park Place and the Boardwalk.

BRIGANTINE - The Atlantic County Library System is accepting nonperishable food items for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey - Southern Branch and local food pantries. Any unopened, unexpired nonperishable food is appreciated, but the most needed items include meals in a can, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned soup, shelf-stable milk, and cereal.

The Brigantine Schools PTA will hold a bake sale 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at 15th Street South, after the annual Halloween parade. Homemade goodies such as cakes, cupcakes, pies, caramel apples and more will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the children of Brigantine schools.

 

Trip to Brandywine River Museum

The Brigantine Cultural Arts Commission sponsors a bus trip to the Brandywine River Museum in historic Chadds Ford, Pa.  on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

A guided tour will escort visitors through the museum to view the works of N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. The cost is $40 per person and includes admission, transportation and tour. Lunch will be on your own. There is a restaurant on the premises. Call 609-266-3808 or 609-266-2545.
