Atlantic County Library System/Brigantine, 201 15th Street South, hosts Dinner and a Movie: "Houston, We Have a Problem...” on Wednesday, June 13 at 6 p.m. The event is open to ages 18 and older. The first 35 people to arrive will be admitted. Attendees are welcome to bring their own take-out. Pizza will be available for $3. Beverage, utensils and dessert are provided.

Brigantine Historical Society presents the story of NORAD Tower No. 4

In 1961 a NOARD early warning radar tower, six stories high, was built in the open ocean 65 miles off of our coast. It was the Cold War and the U.S. government had to do whatever was necessary to protect against a nuclear attack. The tower was manned by both civilians and members of the armed forces.

Red Hat Ladies dinner meeting May 30

CER to present Atlantic Brass Band

Brigantine Community Education and Recreation will present the Atlantic Brass Band in a Memorial Day weekend concert 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26.  The free concert will be in the air-conditioned Brigantine North School Auditorium, 301 E. Evans Blvd.

The Atlantic Brass Band is rated one of the finest brass bands in the country – winning several prestige national awards.  Bring your friends and come out and join us for an outstanding evening of music and fun for free.

Mini golf course to open

The Brigantine Mini Golf Course will be open for weekend play starting Saturday, May 26. The course will be open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
The course at the 42nd Street Recreation Complex will open for the summer season on Saturday, June 23 and will then be open 10 a.m.-11 p.m. seven days a week. The course fee is $5 for 18 holes.

 

CER sponsors Camp Brigantine

The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation Department will once again sponsor Camp Brigantine. Camp Brigantine is an enrichment camp for children from Brigantine.

The camp operates 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at Brigantine Elementary School, with an extended hours program.  Camp Brigantine will run for eight weeks starting on Monday, June 25 – several attendance options are available.

CER announces summer program

The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation Department announced its summer program for residents.

Activities will be offered starting the week of July 2.  Activities to be offered include time for tots, rec baseball, rec softball, rec soccer, and biddy basketball. Specialty camps include cooking, guitar, ukulele, theater, art, pottery, science fun, photography for kids, art in the garden, reading and crafts, multi sports, stage design and soccer.

Special events include community family fun day, the children's pet show, the Brigantine Island Triathlon, the mini golf classic, and surf-jam 2012.

The Seventh annual Brigantine Mini Golf Classic will be held at the Mini Golf Course at 42nd Street July 14.

The Brigantine Surfing School will run late June-early September.

Camp Brigantine will be held at the Brigantine Elementary School on Sheridan Boulevard. This is an eight-week enrichment camp for youngsters entering grades one to six in September.  The camp will start June 25 and conclude Aug. 17. Camp hours will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with an extended day program available.  Camp activities will include sports, computers, music, arts and crafts, dance, reading, special events, beach trips and field trips.

Stop-Think-Connect information session for Brigantine Seniors Club

The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation (CER) and police departments along with representatives from the FAA National Airspace System Information System Security Engineering team will be hosting a Stop-Think-Connect informational session and discussion on Thursday, May 24 at the Brigantine Beach Community Center for the Brigantine Seniors Club as part of their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
