brigantine The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation Department has announced its winter program for city residents.

Courses offered starting the week of Jan. 12 are: Ballroom and Latin Beat Dancing, Intro to Piano, Digital Photography, Ukulele, Jewelry Making, CPR and Country Line Dancing.

The Brigantine branch of the Atlantic County Library hosts book discussions for adults 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 13, Feb. 10 and March 10 at the Brigantine Beach Community Center. For the titles being discussed, call the library branch at 609-266-0110.

The Atlantic City Ballet will present ‘The Nutcracker’ Thursday through Tuesday, Dec. 18-23 at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City. The Atlantic City Ballet will present ‘The Nutcracker’ Thursday through Tuesday, Dec. 18-23 at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City. ATLANTIC CITY – After 30 years of touring the state with the beloved holiday classic, the Atlantic City Ballet announced that it will perform “The Nutcracker” Dec. 18-23 in Atlantic City.

The ballet will be presented with live accompaniment by the Garden State Philharmonic at the Claridge Hotel Celebrity Theater, Park Place and the Boardwalk.

She specializes in large complicated projects such as the Tropicana Quarter Painted Sky Scapes, and also paints for clients in private homes. Every mural is an authentic piece of artwork, not digitally created. Her work is most prominent in Atlantic City and Charleston, S.C.

Got plaid?  Do you have an about an outstandingly ugly holiday sweater?  Well, it is appreciated at the Absecon Lighthouse.  Light up the holidays 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. and celebrate the season, wearing holiday plaids and ugly holiday sweaters. Rock around the tree along with DJ tunes - dance and sing to carols of the season, get some holiday shopping done in the gift shop, sip some holiday cheer of wine and beer, and enjoy light refreshments from award-winning restaurant Tony Boloney's.

Lighthouse Players to perform Neil Simon’s ‘Rumors’

Last summer marked the first production of the new community theater in Brigantine, the BB Lighthouse Players. "Night Watch," by Louise Fletcher, directed by Anthony Vraim and Chikita Wallace, was put on in the gymnasium at the Community Center. The people of Brigantine showed up in record numbers to see this play, which got good reviews.

The Lighthouse Players learned from their first time out that the gym is not the best place to put on a play, due to the noisy air conditioners and the huge space they had to fight for the actors to be heard.

The Atlantic County Library System is accepting nonperishable food items for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey - Southern Branch and local food pantries. Any unopened, unexpired nonperishable food is appreciated, but the most needed items include meals in a can, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned soup, shelf-stable milk, and cereal.

The Brigantine Schools PTA will hold a bake sale 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at 15th Street South, after the annual Halloween parade. Homemade goodies such as cakes, cupcakes, pies, caramel apples and more will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the children of Brigantine schools.

The Brigantine Cultural Arts Commission sponsors a bus trip to the Brandywine River Museum in historic Chadds Ford, Pa.  on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

A guided tour will escort visitors through the museum to view the works of N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. The cost is $40 per person and includes admission, transportation and tour. Lunch will be on your own. There is a restaurant on the premises. Call 609-266-3808 or 609-266-2545.
