Capt. Joe Fumo of Fish Finder II reported that the local reef sites are holding decent catches of fluke. Both the Atlantic City and Great Egg have been producing good numbers of flatties.
Out back, the Fish Finder II continues to catch loads of flounder and manages to keep a few every trip. The action has been nonstop. Squid, minnows, and spearing are the bait of choice.
Out front, on the wrecks, bigger Gulp baits seem to be working well.
On the beach, spot and kingfish are the mainstay. The store is going through dozens of rigs every day.
The Fish Finder II Progressive Fluke Jackpot is over $1,200 for a 2.84-pound flounder.
Cathy Crossland of Bayside Marina said, "Fishing is just as awesome as the Jimmy Buffet concert held last weekend." She said there are still plenty of flounder in the back, as even Floyd Carter actually took his boat out and caught three keepers. She also said she has seen more weakfish this year than the last five years combined. The Demos brothers and John Henry are catching them off their dock on spot they caught earlier.
The Lare brothers, Jim and Russ, continue to outfish everyone with Russ's chicken strips soaked in bunker oil combo. Spot are all over, along with seabass, kingfish, and flounder in the surf. There are also a lot of big brown sharks and small blues that are a blast to catch.
Offshore, it is pretty quiet unless you go down south off of Cape May to Poorman's Canyon for any kind of action.
