The number of individuals and companies who are supporting the community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Brigantine Beach Community Center continues to grow. An outgrowth of an idea by a group of local residents, the event was planned to bring residents together to celebrate Thanksgiving as a community, especially those affected by Sandy.

It was originally planned for about 100 people, but now is anticipated to feed more than 200. Some 40 volunteers have signed up to set up, cook, serve and clean. (No more volunteers are needed.) All the food has been donated by local families and businesses.

The event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22 and reservations are required. The dinner is free for island residents, but donations are being requested for the True Spirit Coalition. Call (609) 264-7350 for more information.
