On Wednesday, Dec. 5, the team at Art Is...Salon transformed their salon space into a haven of relaxation for those recovering from Superstorm Sandy. Anyone displaced or affected by the storm was invited to their salon for complimentary services, including massages, makeup, and blow-outs.
In addition to the services, which were performed by the salon staff and a few special guests, there was a buffet of hors d’oeuvres, appetizers, desserts and a selection of wines. Everyone attending received a gift bag of hair product goodies, and 24 lucky winners of a drawing took home brand-new Rusk CTC hair dryers, graciously donated by a supplier of the salon, the BSG Group.
When salon manager Susanne Holt and her sister, Joanne Zappas, had the idea for this event, everyone in the salon thought it was a great idea and immediately volunteered to participate.
“My staff and I felt so great being able to do what we do best, and help those affected by taking just one night for themselves and having the relaxing services done,” said salon owner Danni Eafrati.
As the guests arrived throughout the evening, it quickly became apparent that this was a much-needed break for a lot of people dealing with the aftermath of Sandy, and they enjoyed taking the time to recharge and just have a fun, relaxing night.
A very special thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and unique talents or made delicious treats: Monica Eafrati, Susanne Holt, Joanne Zappas, Samantha Brodton, Jessica Alvarado, Patty Lopresti, Andrea Gold, Annette Orsini, Megan Kushner, Rebecca Fitzgerald, Claire Kelly, Kristen Donnelly, Ryan Hurstt, Marissa Annibali, Lacia Botto, and Liza Johnson.
