Brigantine Police Department News – Week of Jan. 11, 2013

All persons listed are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

For the week ending Jan. 9, the Brigantine Police Department responded to approximately 290 calls for service, including 42 motor vehicle stops (with 21 summonses issued) and six domestic disputes.

A 23-year-old Atlantic City man was arrested Jan. 3 by Officer O’Donoghue on outstanding warrants.

Ashley Delgado, 25, of Brigantine was arrested Jan. 4 by Officer Finan and charged with simple assault.

Nicholas Coleman, 24, of Brigantine was arrested Jan. 7 by Officer Lyons and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of paraphernalia.

A 35-year-old Brigantine man was arrested Jan. 7 by Officer Finan on outstanding warrants.

A 21-year-old Brigantine woman was arrested Jan. 7 by Officer O’Donoghue on an outstanding warrant.

Marianato Ruiz, 36, of Ventnor was arrested Jan. 8 by Detective Glasser and Officer O’Donoghue and charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances, two counts of aggravated assault on police and hindering apprehension, as well as outstanding warrants. The officers approached Ruiz at about 7:45 p.m. after Glasser recognized him as having outstanding warrants. Ruiz fled from the officers after they spoke to him, and after a brief foot chase, he was apprehended. While physically resisting attempts to secure him, Ruiz caused injuries to both officers. After processing, he was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of bail.
