BRI-Fish-10-26 John Rossi with a striper out of Bayside Marina.

Cathy Crossland of Bayside Marina reports that there has not been a lot of action with the stripers yet, except at night while plugging.

Joe A.'s brother-in-law, Bob Hoffman, is doing pretty well at night with eels and spot. Crossland said that she can't believe spot are still hanging around.

"But it has been a strange year," she added.

There are a lot of 20-inch weakfish around, eating cut bait and jigging with pink Fin-S. Small blues up to 3 pounds randomly blitz the beaches, and a lot of nice tautog are all over the jetty and sod banks.

Hopefully the stripers will show up next weekend for the Elks Fall Classic Tournament. Anglers can sign up at Bayside, which is also an official weigh station. The captains’ meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Elks lodge. Fishing will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Bayside will host a Midnight Madness fish around-the-clock tournament starting noon Saturday, Nov. 10 until noon Sunday, Nov. 11. Get details and sign up at the Marina.
