Leisner joins Cape Regional Physicians Associates

 CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Dr. William Leisner, an internist, was expected to join Cape Regional Physicians Associates starting Feb. 1.

Leisner is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia. He completed his post-graduate medical education in internal medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown, Pa. He is board certified in internal medicine.

Haircuts to be donated to homeless

For every adult or child who gets a haircut at a Hair Cuttery salon in North Cape May or Rio Grande on Feb. 4 and 5, a free haircut certificate will be donated to a homeless person in their community through local organizations such as the United Way and Salvation Army.  

Hair Cuttery salons nationwide have participated in the annual August Share-A-Haircut program, where for every child’s haircut purchased, one in turn is donated to a disadvantaged child in the community, just before school starts. Hair Cuttery is now adding another way to give with the Share-A-Haircut for the homeless.

The South Jersey Bankers Association (SJBA) is a regional bankers association formed more than 40 years ago to provide a forum for bankers to share ideas and address issues concerning the financial services industry. The SJBA has 19 member banks, 18 vendors and more than 400 members.

THE WILDWOODS –This spring, Morey’s Piers on the boardwalk plans to host a series of school programs that include classroom fundraisers and educational class trips, and a pier-wide celebration for teachers.  

Education Extravaganza is a full-day class trip complete with workshops, entertainment and amusement rides for students in grades 3-12.  Available on May 28, 29, and 30, class trip dates include a Raging Waters Waterpark pass valid 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mariner’s Landing Pier ride pass for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., workshop sessions (available May 29 and 30 only) such as Seashore Ecology, Basic Physics Boardwalk Style, Peer Leadership on the Beach, a peek behind the scenes of the Ghost Ship, a chaperone for each 10 students and free bus parking.

CVS to stop selling tobacco products by Oct. 1

CVS/pharmacy will stop selling cigarettes and all tobacco products at its more than 7,600 stores nationwide by Oct. 1, the chain pharmacy announced Wednesday, Feb. 5.

According to a release on the CVS website, “ending the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products at CVS/pharmacy is simply the right thing to do for the good of our customers and our company. The sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with our purpose – helping people on their path to better health.”

Brenda Linnington to speak at women’s business conference

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Brenda Linnington, director of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Institute for Marketplace Trust and BBB Military Line will be the keynote speaker at the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce’s ninth annual Women In Business Conference on March 6. This half day conference will be held on at The Flander’s Hotel in Ocean City and is presented by 1st Bank of Sea Isle City and Sun National Bank.

New DRBA marketing director to concentrate on ferry

NEW CASTLE, Del. — The Delaware River and Bay Authority officials have tapped Rhona M. Bronson of Ventnor as the agency's new director of marketing.  

Bronson officially began her duties on Jan. 21.  She will be responsible for establishing and implementing the Authority’s overall marketing strategy, working on sales growth and overseeing all agency marketing, especially at the Cape May Lewes Ferry.
