CAPE MAY – Cape May Stage will present Broadway and cabaret star Karen Akers in the show “An Evening of Cole Porter: Anything Goes” 8 p.m. Monday, July 22 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at the corner of Bank and Lafayette streets in Cape May.

Akers is a Tony Award nominee and star of the original Broadway productions “Nine” and “Grand Hotel.” She has been touring the country performing her Porter tribute, with stops at venues including The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. This is the first time she is performing at Cape May Stage.

The show includes a repertoire of classic Porter favorites including “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “I Love Paris,” “Always True to You (In My Fashion),” the title song “Anything Goes” and the show-stopping “Begin the Beguine,” as well as lesser-known but charming Porter tunes.

The performance is part of Cape May Stage’s Second Stage Series. Tickets are $50 and include an after party at the Wine Bar at the Washington Inn at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets where attendees will have a chance to mingle with the stars while enjoying finger foods. Drinks can be purchased at the bar.
