CAPE MAY – Eight employees from the Cape May Post Office were recognized last week for their 225 cumulative years of service during a surprise service awards ceremony.
The basis of the Service Award is to recognize United States Postal Service career employees who have completed 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years of creditable service to the government. All federal civilian and military service is considered creditable.
The presentation was made by the Cape May Post Office’s Acting Postmaster Robert P. Hudson, on behalf of the Cape May Post Office and the United States Postal Service. “It’s presentations like these that enable us to recognize all of the hard work and effort that is put forth by each and every one of our employees; from those who have just completed their first year of service to those, like these employees, who have committed themselves for their entire career,” Hudson said.
Each recognized employee received a non-cash recognition award given at their specific milestone years, consisting of an emblem pin and a letter of appreciation issued in recognition of government service. The letter of appreciation is signed by the installation head or functional organization head for an employee with 25, 30, 35, 40, or 45 years of service, signed by the Postmaster General for an employee with 50 years of service, and presented in an official service award folder.
The following Cape May Post Office employees were recognized for their corresponding years of service:
Frederick J. Pilatsky - 35 years
Patricia Cassidy - 30 years
Dean Umscheid - 30 years
George Seville - 30 years
Joseph Frech - 25 years
Joseph Vendetta - 25 years
