CAPE MAY – In the steady march toward the planned May opening for the city’s new Convention Hall, the council Wednesday approved two contracts for telecommunications and solar energy equipment, and signed off on some $175,000 to furnish the hall.
The four resolutions were approved by a 4-0 margin at a special meeting held Wednesday morning.
Councilwoman Deanna Fiocca was not in attendance because of a scheduling conflict.
“This was just another step in the process, where the goal is to come in on time and within budget,” said Mayor Edward Mahaney.
Arose Inc., of Westville, won the contract to supply telecommunications wiring and equipment for the facility with their $22,200 bid. EMSA Solar LLC of Parlin, submitted the winning bid for solar equipment; they were awarded a $243,000 contract to provide and install solar panels on the roof of the new facility.
The remaining resolutions approved $143,279 for furniture in the Convention Hall, to include seating in the main auditorium and $29,205 to furnish offices for staff and employees.
