LOWER TOWNSHIP – The Cape May County Clerk’s Office has announced the official results of the fire district elections in Lower Township.
In Lower Township Fire District 1, Carrise L. Mornick defeated Peter C. Smith by one vote, 44 to 43, for commissioner. The budget question passed 60 to 22 in District 1.
In District 2, Lewis H. Conley, Jr. and Robert A. Nolan were elected commissioners, receiving 86 and 109 votes respectively. Nolan is a former at-large councilman who ran with former mayor and current councilman Walt Craig.
There were two write in votes for “Morally Bankrupt” and “Politically Corrupt.” The budget question in District 2 was approved 81 to 37.
In District 3, Gary Douglass and Dennis Robertson were elected with 108 and 69 votes respectively. Douglass is the superintendent of public works and serves on the Lower Cape May Regional school board.
Gregory Boris received one write in vote and Edward Zebrowski received 34 write in votes. The budget question was approved 89 to 27.
