LOWER TOWNSHIP – Police have charged a man they say drove his car into CJ’s American Bar & Grill several times.
Kyle W. Komar, 18, of Fire Lane in the North Cape May section, was charged with several Driving While Intoxicated and other criminal charges, including two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, one count of Criminal Mischief, one count of Risking Widespread Damage or Injury and numerous drug charges.
Around 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, Komar slammed his vehicle into CJ’s American Bar & Grill several times, according to police. Police responded to a 911 call and Komar attempted to leave, police said.
While police attempted to arrest Komar, he spit blood on one officer and head butted another, according to a press release.
Township construction official Gary Playford was summoned to the scene to evaluate the structural integrity of CJ’s Bar & Grill. Township officials determined the building to be safe.
Judge Thomas Hillegass set Komar’s bail at $20,000.
Anyone with more information regarding this incident, can call the Lower Township Police Department at 886-2711.
