CAPE MAY – Jim Burrows, of Drexel Hill, Pa., is the winner of the annual "Make Your Own Getaway" raffle, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).

Burrows purchased his raffle ticket from his mother, MAC visitor service associate Anne Burrows, and the winning ticket was drawn at MAC's Annual Meeting Nov. 11 by Mayor Ed Mahaney.

This year's "Make Your Own Getaway" raffle prize is $2,500 worth of Cape May gift certificates, which can be used for a wide variety of Cape May accommodations, restaurants, retail stores, attractions, tours and events.

The "Make Your Own Getaway" raffle prize can be used at any time of year. Burrows will be able to choose the season he wants to visit Cape May and use his certificates and tickets toward his stay.

The raffle raised $13,770, which will go toward restoration of the roofs on outbuildings at the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. Previous projects funded through the raffle have included the window restoration at the Physick Estate and the repainting of the Estate's outbuildings.

Since its founding in 1970, MAC has taken a leadership role in historic preservation, rescuing vital Cape May area landmarks from ruin, including the Emlen Physick Estate, the Cape May Lighthouse and the World War II Lookout Tower near Sunset Beach.
