Student detained for weapons possession

LOWER TOWNSHIP – Police responded to the Lower Cape May Regional High School at 11:06 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 after a school administrator found a student with an air soft rifle and a knife.

The 15-year-old student was taken into custody without incident, according to police. The juvenile was lodged at the Bridgeton Juvenile Detention Facility.

At no time was anyone threatened or exposed to the weapons, according to police.

A press release from police said the student may have been found with the weapons when smoking in the bathroom.
