WEST CAPE MAY – Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County’s thrift store will hold its first sale on Feb. 15-17.
Shoppers will be sold a blue bag for $5 and can take home as much stuff as fits in the bag. store will be stocked with winter clothes for the sale.
VIM opened the thrift store last fall to generate money to offset the cost of care at its medical clinic.
VIM provides free health care to the uninsured, working poor of Cape May County. In Cape May County one in five people lack health insurance.
With support from the community, VIM has been able to treat more than 4,000 patients with 24,000 cumulative visits, all at no charge, since opening day more than eleven years ago.
The thrift store, VIMspirations, is located at 600 Park Blvd. next door to Artizan’s Salon and Spa, and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday though Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
VIMspirations is in its fourth month of operation and donations continue to be strong. Board chair Sandy Gott said “the store always looks great, we have a fabulous team of volunteers and continue to be awed by the generosity of the community with their donations.”
Store manager Anne Marie Jackson said clearing out winter items in the thrift store will make room for spring and prom gowns.
