Gov. Christie to visit Cape May Wednesday

CAPE MAY – City officials said Monday that Governor Chris Christie has scheduled a visit to Cape May on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Christie will conduct a press conference at the 300 Block of the Washington Street Mall around 11:30 am. Following the press conference, Christie will stroll the Washington Street Mall.


The purpose of Christie’s visit is to see first-hand the outcomes of the state’s programs focusing on the recovery efforts from last October’s Hurricane Sandy.

During the past 10 months, Christie and his cabinet members have been communicating with county and local elected officials to ensure that the health, safety, welfare, physical, and economic needs of communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

There may be some temporary street closings and traffic re-routing on Aug. 28. The city will provide approximately 100 chairs at the press conference.
