Family dispute over the holiday ends in burglary and assault charges

LOWER TOWNSHIP – A Villas man knocked on a relative’s door, pushed the homeowner out of the way and assaulted another family member over a disagreement they had earlier in the day, police said.

Lower Township police said Daniel A. Tomes, Jr., 28, went to the victim’s home and knocked on the front door around 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 27. He pushed the homeowner out of the way when the door opened and entered the home uninvited, police said.

 

Once inside, Tomes assaulted another family member with whom he had a disagreement with early in the evening, according to police.

Tomes was charged with second degree burglary, criminal mischief and simple assault. Bail was set at $50,000 by Judge Thomas Hillegass.
