Villas man charged with sexual assault on child

LOWER TOWNSHIP – A 66-year-old Villas man has been charged with sexually assaulting a child, according to police.

The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Lower Township police announced that Robert Mollenkof was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal restraint and endangering the welfare of a child.   

  On Dec. 30, Lower Township police were notified of a sexual assault that had occurred in Lower Township. An investigation was conducted by township detectives and the Special Victims Unit of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigation and evidence collected during the execution of a search warrant led to the arrest of Robert Mollenkof on Dec. 31, police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14. He is being held at the Cape May County jail on $200,000 bail, Lower police announced.

No further information on the victim was released.

Prosecutor Robert Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana praised the investigators who worked on the case.
