UPDATE: Woman killed in Lower Township accident

LOWER TOWNSHIP - Police said a 42-year-old Lower Township woman was killed in a motor vehicle accident Thursday when her SUV left the roadway and crashed into several trees before rolling over.

Pamela Giordano was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 14-year-old daughter, who was a passenger, was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center Trauma Unit. She was treated there and released to her father, according to police.


The crash occurred at around 5:23 p.m. on Route 9, a little north of the Route 109 jug handle in Lower Township.

Giordano’s Ford Expedition rolled over after it left the road. Police received two 9-1-1 calls. Local fire companies also responded to the scene.

The crash scene is being investigated by Lower Township Fatal Crash Unit, along with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Investigation Unit. 

The investigation is ongoing.
