LOWER TOWNSHIP – Police blocked off part of a residential street in Lower Township Wednesday after a resident called thinking a neighbor was going to harm himself.

Lower Township police, the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, the Prosecutor’s Office and Cape May County SWAT were at the intersection of Deborah Lane and Roseann Avenue around 3 p.m., blocking access to part of the single-family neighborhood.

A man was seen being led away from a home around 4:10 p.m. Police said he was uninjured.

According to an officer at the scene, responders could not make contact with the man when they first arrived on the 200 block of Roseann Avenue. When the individual looked out a window and saw the number of vehicles responding, he came outside, the officer said.

When police entered the home, a revolver was found inside, according to the officer.

The scene was being cleared by 4:30 p.m.
