The Mom's Beat: Summer movie series provides affordable fun for the family

 Parents and babysitters are always looking for affordable ways to keep the kids entertained while school is out of session. The beach and park are always great options are local library children series, but Regal Cinemas is also offering its annual low-cost movies, which fits most budgets at only $1 admission per person.

 The 2014 Summer Movie Express runs for 9 weeks with select titles playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer. Regal Hamilton Commons theater in Mays Landing will begin its showings on June 24.

 Admission is only $1 and a portion of the proceeds goes to the Will Rogers Institute, which works in honor of late actor Will Rogers by promoting and funding medical research of cardiopulmonary diseases, purchasing neonatal ventilator equipment for medical facilities across the country and by educating the general public on topics of health and fitness.

The movies all start at 10 a.m. The schedule is:

June 25: The Smurfs 2

July 1: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2

July 2: The Pirates: Band of Misfits

July 8: Arthur Christmas

July 9: Despicable Me 2

July 15: The Lego Movie

July 16: Free Birds

July 22: Adventures of Tin Tin

July 23: Rise of the Guardians

July 29: Kung Fu Panda 2

July 30: Madagascar 3

Aug. 5: The Croods

Aug. 6: Epic

Aug. 12: Turbo

Aug. 13: Walking with Dinosaurs

Aug. 19: Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Aug. 20: Rio 2
