Halloween parade and bingo

A Halloween parade and bingo night will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 in the cafeteria of the Ventnor Educational Community Complex, 400 N. Lafayette Ave., Ventnor. For information call 609-487-7900.

An Evening with George Burns

Beth El Synagogue and Temple Emeth Shalom will present “An Evening with George Burns” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at Beth El Synagogue, 500 N. Jerome Ave., Margate. Refreshments will be served. Learn how to adopt a shelter dog

The Ventnor branch of the Atlantic County Library, 6500 Atlantic Ave., will host a presentation on adopting a shelter dog 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is requested. The discussion will include what to know and what to look for when adopting a shelter dog. For information call 609-823-4614.

Paw Plunge

Longport will host a Paw Plunge 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Oct. 26 on the beach at 33rd Avenue to benefit the Humane Society of Atlantic County. Bring your dog to the beach and take a plunge in the ocean. ‘Phantom of the Opera’ screening

The original silent film “The Phantom of the Opera” will be shown 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Adrian Phillips Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall. The film features Lon Chaney, Norman Kerry and Mary Philbin. Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit the Historic Organ Restoration Committee Inc. Katz JCC to host vegan Thanksgiving feast

MARGATE – The Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center will host a vegan community Thanksgiving feast noon-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27.

“We invite vegans and nonvegans alike to help us put compassion into action and adopt a kinder more considerate holiday this year,” said Jack I. Fox, JCC chief executive officer. “This will be an afternoon where your palate will be tantalized by remarkable wholesome cuisine while you continue to learn about the meaning of a gentle Thanksgiving, all while you share a special afternoon with friends and loved ones.”

Ladies Night Out to benefit Early Childhood Center playground

MARGATE – The Milton & Betty Katz JCC Early Childhood Education Center Parent Committee will hold a Ladies Night Out Shopping Extravaganza 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 in the JCC auditorium, 501 N. Jerome Ave.

There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and music while women shop the more than 50 vendors and enjoy a 20-minute fashion show featuring the fashions of Paris, New York and Madrid, according to organizers.

Ventnor Mothers Club membership

The Ventnor Mothers Club, which began in the 1930s, is seeking members. The group meets 7 p.m. the second Monday of each mother in the community room of the Ventnor Library and Cultural Art Center. Light refreshments are served. All mothers are encouraged to join. Call Barbara Martella (609) 457-8107.

Volunteers needed

The Ventnor senior citizen transportation service is a free shuttle available to all senior citizens residing in Ventnor and provides rides to anywhere in the Downbeach area of Ventnor, Margate, and Longport. In its 15th year, the program is performed by volunteer dispatchers and drivers. Anyone who can donate three hours a day, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday-Friday is encouraged to call (609) 823-7994. Leave your name and phone number on the answering machine and someone will return your call.
