VENTNOR – A morning crash into a home on Atlantic Avenue involving a Ventnor City Fire Department Ambulance has sent six people to the hospital including two local firefighters.

Ventnor City Police are investigating the 11:06 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Atlantic and Marion avenues.

According to Ventnor Police Sgt. Charles Wood, the ambulance was returning to headquarters from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus when the accident occurred.

The other vehicle was a red minivan containing two men from Annapolis, Md., and a woman and a boy, both from Atlantic City.

Both vehicles came to rest on the northern exterior wall of 100 S. Marion Ave. No one was home at the time and the Ventnor Building Department deemed the property safe. Both vehicles suffered significant damage and were towed away.

No immediate repairs were necessary to secure the residence. The homeowners have since arrived and are surveying the damage.

All six people in the vehicles were transported to the City Campus by AtlantiCare medics and the Longport Volunteer Fire Department. One firefighter has been released. A second firefighter was released after receiving treatment for lacerations and injuries to his ribs.

The two men from the van were admitted and are currently stabilized.
Police are withholding the names until next of kin can be notified of the crash.

Atlantic City Police and Fire Departments responded as did the Margate Fire Department and Longport Volunteer Fire Department. The accident is being investigated by Ventnor Police Sgt. Joseph Fussner.
