Arc of Atlantic County board member Chick Pinto of Gloucester County and Ocean City hits the boards with his wife, Kathi, and their daughter Lizzy, 13.

VENTNOR – More than 200 walkers joined the 10th annual Step Up for the Arc Walk Saturday, Oct. 27.

CEO Deborah Davies said the walk is the Arc’s largest annual fundraiser, and it has raised more than $200,000 in 10 years.

Some $18,000 had been raised by walkers by the morning of the event, and donations will be accepted until Nov. 30. Davies said she had no doubt the Arc would reach its $20,000 fundraising goal by the end of the month.

“You help kids with developmental disabilities have a fun and a safe place to enjoy when the weekday ends,” Davies said.

She also gave a shout-out to the Saturday program, saying it provides a fun and educational place for children in the county.

“Thank you to the volunteers who help in so many ways,” she said.

Davies said that for her, it was an emotional event. She will be retiring after 29 years as CEO of the Arc of Atlantic County.

“The thing I love about this is we do everything we can for the people we serve and their families,” she said.
