The following action was taken by the Ventnor City Commission meeting Thursday, Dec. 20. A workshop meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 10, and the next meeting where action will be taken is Thursday, Jan. 17. Both meeting are 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave.
Duplex ordinance approved
Commissioners unanimously approved an ordinance that permits duplexes or apartment houses in all zoning districts to be demolished and replaced with the same. According to Mayor Mike Bagnell, the prior ordinance required a demolished duplex be replaced with a single-family home. The ordinance sets area and bulk requirements for modification.
New fence approved for public works complex
The commissioners approved the installation of a new fence at the public works complex to be installed by All Vinyl Fencing of Hammonton for $67,724. The contract involves removing the chain link fence and replacing it with vinyl fencing.
Appointments
Nelson Morgan was appointed to the Board of Education for the unexpired term of Abdul Azad through May 15, 2015. Zoning Board Chairwoman Loraine Sallata and Vice Chairman Dan Smith were reappointed with board member Mike Wiesen for a term of Dec. 1, 2012- Dec. 1, 2015. In a separate measure, Diane Kelly was reappointed tax assessor.
Meeting dates set
The city commissioners will meet 5:30 p.m. on the second and third Thursday of each month in commission chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave. The second Thursday of the month is a work session meeting where no formal action is taken. The third Thursday of the month is reserved for action on resolutions, ordinances and other city business. Agendas are posted online at www.ventnorcity.org.
Work session dates are Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12. Commission meeting dates are Jan. 17, Feb. 21, March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
