The Herb Stern Longport Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for this year’s scholarships. Each year the fund awards scholarships to high school seniors who are going on to college or to students already attending college.
Up to $5,000 will be awarded this year, organizers said. Awards are based on high school record, results of standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, summer work history and financial need.
The fund has awarded more than $25,000 to Longport residents over the last several years. Board members include President George Miller, Vice President Mike Garvin, Secretary Lynn Baumgardner, Treasurer Herb Stern and members Linda Bohaj and Dorthy McGee.
Applications are available at the clerk’s office in Borough Hall and from board members. They must be completed and returned by April 15.
