VENTNOR – The Ventnor Police Department issued an urgent message Wednesday morning, Feb. 5 to be on the lookout for a missing child. Laheska Ramirez, 10, was found safe later in the day. She had been missing since dusk on Tuesday afternoon.

She was last seen near her house at 10 S. Hillside Ave., when she went around the back of the house to find something, her father Walter Ramirez said. Her family checked the area around their house and the beach, where Laheska liked to go, but found no sign of her. They even checked area hospitals to no avail.

Her mother Carmen Ramirez said she was relieved when Laheska was found safe at a friend’s house. Carmen Ramirez declined to provide a reason for her daughter’s disappearance. Her sister has remove all postings about the matter from her Facebook page.

Ventnor Police Chief Michael S. Miller, issued a brief statement via email, “Juvenile has been located. Safe and sound.”

“We are thankful for everyone’s help. Everything is okay now,” Carmen Ramirez said.
