Beachstock MARGATE – Beachstock returns to the Margate beach Saturday, June 28 with an expanded lineup of family-friendly events and activities. The Beachstock rain date is Sunday, June 29.

New this year is a Jersey Shore first – a zip line 30 feet above the beach.

Some of the attractions at the fifth annual installment of this 14-hour event feature non-stop music on the 100.7 WZXL main stage, “Kids Are the Stars” on the 95.1 WAYV kid’s stage, beer, Margaritas, plenty of food, including fresh-shucked oysters, water sports competitions, Battle of the Beach Bands,

shore-themed crafters, volleyball, World Paddle Association-sanctioned stand-up paddle boarding and lifeguard competitions and surfing lessons. At dusk, enjoy a bonfire on the beach and the movie, “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.” Beach tags are not required for the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and stretches between the Huntington and Granville Avenue beaches behind the Margate Public Library.

“How much fun can be had at Beachstock? All you could possibly want,” Margate Business Association President Ed Berger said. “We have been planning this event for a year and it’s worth every moment of it to see the thousands of residents and visitors enjoy the best day of the summer on the Margate beach.”

Beachstock offers free jitney service from the Union Avenue School at Winchester and Union avenues. Jitneys will also pick up and drop off all along Atlantic Avenue.

After being selected during a series of preliminary rounds throughout June, several bands will square off on the 100.7 WZXL main stage for the Battle of the Beach Bands to compete for cash prizes and professional recording studio time at Buck London Productions. Bands can register at

The Margate Fire Department will cool things off with a gentle “blast” from the fire hose at the top and bottom of each hour.
