2 teens charged in stabbing, robbery of Ventnor man

VENTNOR – Two teenagers have been charged in the Aug. 1 stabbing of a 19-year-old local man during a predawn robbery on Ventnor Avenue, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a fight in the 5600 block of Ventnor Avenue at 4:08 p.m. Friday to find the victim stabbed in the abdomen. The stabbing took place during the course of a robbery, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing two teenage males fleeing the scene toward Atlantic City. A short time later, Detective Lt. Steven Ireland located two people fitting the description in the alley of the 5000 block of Ventnor Avenue.

The suspects, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, were taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, according to reports. 

The victim was transported the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center trauma unit where he was taken into emergency surgery for injuries described as serious.

Custodial confinement status of the two accused is pending, police said.
