EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – On Saturday, April 26 The Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public its eighth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Residents can drop off pills and patches to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department at 3515 Bargaintown Road between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic County Pops Community Band will present its seventh annual HERO concert 7 p.m. Friday, April 11 in the Egg Harbor Township Community Center, 5035 English Creek Ave.

Admission is $5, with the proceeds going to the HERO Campaign.

The 85-member band will be accompanied by the Cygnus Contemporary Dance Ensemble as they perform American Cameos, a medley of familiar tunes by composer Aaron Copland.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – One local Relay for Life team is looking for supporters who want to stretch themselves for a good cause.

 The Slim’s Butterscotchers are hosting a daylong yogathon in Egg Harbor Township Saturday, May 3 to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

 The event, called “Are you Down to Fight Cancer?” will feature a variety of yoga classes taught by instructors representing many local yoga studios. The more challenging power flow series, as well as slow flow and yin yoga will be offered. The fundraiser will carry over to an after-party at Clancy’s By the Bay restaurant in Somers Point that evening.

Prom tickets cannot be purchased until parent or guardian attends one of two mandatory meetings

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - A mandatory pre-prom meeting for parents of all Egg Harbor Township High School students who are planning on attending the prom will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 in the school auditorium.

 The meeting will be held to create awareness among parents regarding the topics of parent liability, underage use and possession laws, current trends of drug use with signs and symptoms, media influence as well as information on the current heroin epidemic in our area.

 College Information Night at EHTHS The guidance department of Egg Harbor Township High School will host a college information night 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8 in the school’s auditorium. This will be a program for any students and parents interested in learning more about the college application process. All grade levels are welcome.

EHT Drama Club presents ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’

Opening night is Thursday, showtimes run through Sunday

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Egg Harbor Township High School Drama Club will put its spin on the 1960s musical comedy “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” Thursday through Sunday, April 2-6.

The plot follows 27-year-old New York window washer J. Pierpont Finch, who believes he can find success in the corporate world after he picks up a book titled “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

With the help of the book, he rises to the top of The Worldwide Wicket Corporation, a company he previously only was able to watch from the outside. Love, rivalry and ambition all play a part in the musical.

EHT high school donates net volleyball proceeds to Elimate Project

Egg Harbor Township high school held their volleyball marathon for the 13th year Friday, March 14.

There were 42 teams comprised of students, alumni and staff competing in the Key Club’s primary fundraiser scheduled to run from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. Each team donated $100 to participate in the competition.

The Key Club sponsored by the township’s Kiwanis, will donate the proceeds from this event as they have done the past two fundraisers to the Eliminate Project.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Athletic League will host two Lego-related clubs. The Lego WEDO programs are for first through third graders and meets Tuesdays between 4:30 and 7 p.m., depending on levels of the children. These programs begin March 18. A summer enrichment program will also be offered between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays starting June 25.

Seniors at Egg Harbor Township High School enjoyed three days of stiff competition at their Senior Olympics Tuesday, March 4 through Thursday, March 6.  Teams sported war paint and their own unique T-shirts with colorful names such as, No Fear, Katz  Scratch Fever, Finding Finn, Innuminati and Salvataurus Rex.

Special sneak-peek dress rehsearsal for senior citizens residents on Wednesday, March 5 

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The boys and girls from Alder Avenue Middle School’s Drama Club will transform into “Guys and Dolls” as they take the stage in their version of the classic Broadway musical.

 The story takes place in 1940s and follows gambler Nathan Detroit as he attempts to set up a big-time crap game in New York City while trying to keep his longtime fiancé Miss Adelaide at arms length.
