Fireworks coming to Egg Harbor Township’s National Night Out

Fireworks will be added to EHT's National Night Out Fireworks will be added to EHT's National Night Out EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP –  This year when the community comes together to mark National Night Out, the evening of fun will conclude with a fireworks display.

The nationwide event, now in its 31st year, is held locally on the first Tuesday at Tony Canale Park. It is organized to prevent crime and substance abuse and to foster a sense of community among the residents.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP  When the Atlantic County Pops Community Band presents its free summer concert on Wednesday, July 23, the musicians will be joined by a visual artist for the first time since its inception in 2010.

The “Celebrating Mother Earth” concert will feature Cygnus Creative Arts Centre’s resident artist Stephen Gibson who will do a live sketching as the band performs Aaron Copland’s bold and familiar "Appalachian Spring" under the direction of Emily Threinen, a conductor and educator from Temple University.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Local residents got the chance to meet Dancing with the Stars winner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Saturday, July 12, when the dancer stopped by Joe Canal's Liquor Store in Egg Harbor Township to promote his new brand of vodka.

Approximately 400 to 500 fans stretched around the building to meet "Maks," have a photo taken and get the celebrity's autograph.

Egg Harbor Township Recreation Department presents its Under the Stars movies at the Tony Canale Amphitheater each summer. This year's series will begin Saturday, July 12.

 The first movie is "Gravity" starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. The movie follows the story of a medical engineer and an astronaut who work together to survive the catastrophe that destroys their space shuttle and leaves them adrift in orbit.

Opening acts announced

 After event organizers finalized the site plan for the July 31 Blake Shelton and the Aug. 3 Lady Antebellum concerts, more concert tickets have become available, according to an announcement made by The Atlantic City Alliance in conjunction with Live Nation and the DO AC campaign.

 The initial set of tickets for the free country music concerts sold out quickly.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Egg Harbor Township Education Association is hosting a free movie night on Saturday, July 19.

 “Despicable Me 2” will be shown outdoors at the Tony Canale Park Amphitheater at dark, which occurs around 9 p.m.

EHT's outdoor concert series starts tonight, Friday, June 27

Concert series begins in EHT on June 27 Concert series begins in EHT on June 27 The Rhythm in the Park outdoor concert series begins 7 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Tony Canale Park Amphitheater. Concerts are free and run weekly through August. Bring a chair and snacks.

The first concert will be Jersey Shore Roustabouts, as they play a rock-and-roll tribute. July 11 will be the band Juicy, playing hits from the 50s through the 70s.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – On Sunday, June 22, Emerald Links Golf Course was host to a fund-raising event for Egg Harbor Township resident Jeff Wood, who has an LVAD heart pump and on infusion antibiotics after a major heart attack two years ago.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – There was a moment just before 11 p.m. on Friday, June 20 when the nerves settled in. What if no one comes?

“I haven’t eaten all day because of my nerves,” said Lauren Schlam, one of the many dedicated steering committee members of Egg Harbor Township Home and School Association’s Project Graduation, who spent months planning and creating the theme and then hours setting up the decorations and game stations that make the all-night event a special memory for the graduates.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - The family and friends of George Kurtz from 6- 10 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the VFW Post 8098, 3029 Spruce Ave. Donations are $20 and includes food, beer and entertainment. A 50-50 and silent auction will also be held. The longtime Egg Harbor Township Youth Organization volunteer underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor that came back as cancerous. He now must undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
