Slaybaugh Elementary School second- and third-graders got the chance to show off their scientific findings in the school’s STEM Science Fair Thursday, Feb. 19.

The fair included the work of 35 second-graders and 40 third-graders, all of whom had volunteered to participate in the event.

Princesses filled the cafeteria of Egg Harbor Township High School Saturday, Feb. 21 dancing with their “royal kings” while the ground was icy outside.

The Class of 2016 hosted its second annual Princess Ball, inviting local girls in grades kindergarten through third to dress their best and bring along their father, grandfather, family friend or relative to accompany them.

Artists Alike Film festival expands students’ horizons

Artists Alike Studios Film Festival Artists Alike Studios Film Festival EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Seeing how talented her student filmmakers were for the past decade, Egg Harbor Township High School television station manager Kristen Dirato said she wanted to extend their opportunities.

“I always love seeing the talent that students produce, so when I saw how creative students were at EHT, I wanted to expand on the idea,” Dirato said.

With several graduates from the school, she launched a production company called Artists Alike Studios, which is the host of the Artists Alike Film Festival on Friday, Feb. 27 at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology in Mays Landing.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – While there will be many differences from the first, the 15th annual Italian Night Dinner will still honor the memory of Jamie Crescenzo in much the same way that it has all these years.

“Fifteen years ago on a snowy February morning an accident took the life of Jamie Crescenzo, not quite 21 years old,” her mother, Margaret, said Sunday, Jan. 25, as she and her husband, Jim, worked on preparations for the event that fills the Elks hall on Somers Point-Mays Landing Road for more than four hours.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church offered local residents a taste of the Mediterranean at their annual Greek Winter Feast on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Baking started during the week to prepare for the feast that was held Friday through Sunday in the church’s community center in Egg Harbor Township.

Fundraiser for Alder drama club

Alder Avenue Middle School Drama Club is hosting a Spirit Night at the Chick-fil-A on the Black Horse Pike 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20. A portion of proceeds from sales during this time will benefit the club if patrons mention the club’s name when ordering.

The club will present “The Wizard of Oz” 7 p.m. Friday, March 6; Saturday, March 7, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8 in the auditorium of Fernwood Avenue Middle School.

Presented by Shore Medical Center for the eighth year in a row, the Dice and Dine event will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, with live casino games offered by Tumbling Dice Entertainment, Inc.

The cafeteria of Davenport Elementary School erupted in songs from “Frozen” Friday Jan. 9 as students sang along with special guests Queen Elsa and Princess Anna at a movie night presented by the Davenport Parents Club. The characters performed two popular songs from the film and took photos with the youngsters before the movie was shown.

Community advisory board meeting

The Spruce Family Success Center, 3050 Spruce Ave., is looking for members of the community to join its Advisory Board. The group meets monthly to get input, feedback, suggestions and questions. Call 609-569-0376. 

Township Committee schedule

Egg Harbor Township Committee meets 5 p.m. twice a month on Wednesdays in the municipal courtroom at the Municipal Building, 3515 Bargaintown Road. Agendas can be viewed at www.ehtgov.org. The meetings are at 5 p.m.
