Atlantic Pops music for toys concert to feature seasonal song and dance

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic Pops Community Band will collaborate with area musicians and dancers to bring music of the holiday season to the Egg Harbor Township Community Center Friday, Dec. 5.

The annual Toy Drive Concert is presented in cooperation with the Atlantic City Rescue Mission to benefit needy area families.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – After all of the shopping frenzy from Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday has subsided, charity organizations across the globe are hoping there is some money left over on Tuesday to help the less fortunate.

Coined “#GivingTuesday” in 2012, the annual event serves as a fundraiser for more than 10,000 organizations worldwide. This year it will occur Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Local organizations are hoping residents will take a moment to donate and help their fellow community members.

Each year the members of Egg Harbor Township’s volunteer fire companies help bring a little extra cheer to the season by driving Santa around the neighborhood so he can scout out his route for Christmas Eve.

The fire trucks will be taking Santa around to wave to children Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 8 and 9 in Bargaintown (rain date Wednesday, Dec. 10); Dec. 8-12 in Farmington; Friday and Saturday, Dec. 19 and 20 in Scullville; and Sunday, Dec. 21 in West Atlantic City.

The Press of Atlantic City is presenting a Father Daughter Dance from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at Trinity Learning Center, 7004 Ridge Ave.

The semi-formal event will feature a dance party, raffles, vendors, contests and prizes and a special guest appearance by “your favorite snow queen” and complimentary father-daughter photos with her.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – More than 20 veterans who gathered at Atlantic Christian School’s annual Veterans Day assembly Friday, Nov. 7 were honored in song and words as the school and invited guests took a moment to thank them for their service.

The first-grade class presented hand-colored flags to the veterans, and the school band performed a series of patriotic and religious songs.

The students of Egg Harbor Township High School got out of classes early Friday Oct. 31, filling the football stadium to show their spirit at the Homecoming pep rally.

Sports teams and student organizations took to the field to battle it out for the spirit stick, wowing the crowd with music, singing and dance moves.
