Greek Feast delicacies delight in Egg Harbor Township

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church offered local residents a taste of the Mediterranean at their annual Greek Winter Feast on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Baking started during the week to prepare for the feast that was held Friday through Sunday in the church’s community center in Egg Harbor Township.

Fundraiser for Alder drama club

Alder Avenue Middle School Drama Club is hosting a Spirit Night at the Chick-fil-A on the Black Horse Pike 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20. A portion of proceeds from sales during this time will benefit the club if patrons mention the club’s name when ordering.

The club will present “The Wizard of Oz” 7 p.m. Friday, March 6; Saturday, March 7, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8 in the auditorium of Fernwood Avenue Middle School.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools, Inc. is betting it will have a “full house” at its eighth annual February FUNraiser.

Presented by Shore Medical Center for the eighth year in a row, the Dice and Dine event will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, with live casino games offered by Tumbling Dice Entertainment, Inc.

The cafeteria of Davenport Elementary School erupted in songs from “Frozen” Friday Jan. 9 as students sang along with special guests Queen Elsa and Princess Anna at a movie night presented by the Davenport Parents Club. The characters performed two popular songs from the film and took photos with the youngsters before the movie was shown.

Guitar Lessons

The Spruce Family Success Center offers beginner and intermediate guitar lessons for those 10 and older with their own guitar. The half-hour lessons are by appointment only on Jan. 9, 20 and 23. Call 609-569-0376 to sign up. Spruce Family Success Center is located at 3050 Spruce Ave.

Community advisory board meeting

The Spruce Family Success Center, 3050 Spruce Ave., is looking for members of the community to join its Advisory Board. The group meets monthly to get input, feedback, suggestions and questions. Call 609-569-0376. 

Township Committee schedule

Egg Harbor Township Committee meets 5 p.m. twice a month on Wednesdays in the municipal courtroom at the Municipal Building, 3515 Bargaintown Road. Agendas can be viewed at www.ehtgov.org. The meetings are at 5 p.m.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP –  Greeks love to share, according to Eugenia Kramvis of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, so when they open up their doors for the church’s annual Winter Feast Jan. 23-25, they hope folks will take them up on their hospitality.

A Greek term characterizes this collective hospitality and goodwill, she said.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Egg Harbor Township Committee and the Board of Education will swear in new members and reorganize in January.

The Township Committee will hold its reorganization meeting 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2 in the courtroom of the Municipal Building, 3515 Bargaintown Road.
