Hall of fame nominations needed

The Egg Harbor Township Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for candidates for the Egg Harbor Township High School Class of 2012 Hall of Fame.  Nominations are due back to Michael Pellegrino, supervisor of athletics and activities by March 3. Preschool lottery applications available

Applications for the Egg Harbor Township preschool lottery are available at the main offices of H. R. Swift School, C. J. Davenport Primary School, and the E. H. Slaybaugh Primary School Monday-Friday. Applications will also be available on the Egg Harbor Township School website. They must be returned to the Davenport District Office, 2499 Spruce Ave., received no later than March 9. The drawing will be held at the Davenport District Office-Primary building 10 a.m. Monday, March 12.  Parents do not need to be present for the drawing.  Lottery winners will be notified by mail.  See www.eht.k12.nj.us

Kindergarten registration beginning

Kindergarten registration in the Egg Harbor Township School District is under way. Students must turn 5 by Oct. 1. Only parents or legal guardians can register students. Horse show series set at ARCH

The Atlantic Riding Center for Health, ARCH, will be hosting a winter/spring horse show series with hunter, jumper and therapeutic classes March 4, April 8 and May 27. The schooling begins at 7 a.m. each day. Judging begins at 8:30. The series showcases therapeutic and traditional rides. Awards are given to high-point riders for each division, and a champion is named for each division in every show. Prices are $10 per therapeutic or $15 per traditional class per on the day of show. Economic development commission to meet

The Egg Harbor Township Economic Development Commission will meet at noon Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Mayor’s Conference Room, located on the first floor of the township Municipal Building. Formal action may be taken. Call (609) 926-4088.

Remembering Jamie Foundation Italian Night Dinner

The Remembering Jamie Foundation will host its Italian Night Dinner 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Elks Lodge, 1815 Somers Point-Mays Landing Road, Egg Harbor Township. Includes all-you-can eat dinner, dessert, beer and soda. Proceeds from dinner and Chinese auction support scholarships and financial aid to programs in which Jamie Crescenzo participated. Community Partnership annual fundraiser gala

The Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools, Inc. will honor an Egg Harbor Township School District teacher, student and community person or business at its fifth annual fundraiser to be held Saturday, Feb. 25 at Harbor Pines Golf Club.  The awards go to people who have made a significant, positive impact on the Egg Harbor Township School District in 2011. The fundraiser will also feature entertainment by The Bobby Bandiera Band, guitarist for Jon Bon Jovi. Tickets are $75 per person and include a one-hour open bar cocktail and hors d’oeuvre reception, gourmet dinner, dessert and auction. Proceeds benefit Egg Harbor Township Schools. by offering a bouquet making class open to adults only.  The class will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room B176 (flower shop) at the high school. The cost is $40. Payment in advance will reserve a spot. Share the Keys program to start Feb. 29

The South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance is hosting New Jersey’s Share the Keys, Parent Teen Driver Safety Orientation Train-the-Trainer Program 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 at the Vineland Training Academy. It is a research based, data-driven program, designed to reduce teen crashes by increasing parental knowledge and involvement. The training is free and there are still some seats available. Book discussions set

The Atlantic County Library System’s Egg Harbor Township branch holds monthly book discussions for teens and adults. The title for Thursday, March 1 is “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien. Bowling to help special needs individuals

Community Quest’s second annual “Bowl to Make a Difference” benefit takes place Saturday, March 3 at King Pin Lanes on the Black Horse Pike. Create a team (four-five players), or register as a single and join other players.  Choose a session – 1-3, 4-6 or 7-10 p.m. A $25 entry fee includes two-three games, shoes, food and a chance to win prizes by earning support for your team. Open mic night for young musicians

An open mic night for junior high school and high school musicians will be offered 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Trinity Lodge, 563 Zion Road. Bands and solo acts will get to play in front of a live audience. All proceeds go to charities with the main beneficiary being the military. Special Education Resource Group to meet

in the board room at Alder Avenue Middle School. The group is for parents, teachers, staff and anyone who is interested in special education services in township schools. County bar association membership drive under way

Sugarloaf Crafts Festival bus trip

The EHT Recreation Department will be hosting a bus trip to the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset Saturday, March 20. Spring Craft Fair

The Egg Harbor Township Recreation Department will host a Spring Craft Show 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at the Community Center on English Creek Avenue. Over 50 vendors will display items for purchase; vendor applications are available at www.ehtgov.org.

Astronomy Club

Nashville Songwriters at library

The Atlantic County Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International holds monthly meetings 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays at the Egg Harbor Township branch of the Atlantic County Library System. The meeting dates are March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. Meetings are open to the public. The workshop portion of the meetings will focus on some aspect of song craft or the business of songwriting, to be followed by song feedback. The Egg Harbor Township branch of the Atlantic County Public Library hosts a current-events discussion group from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Wednesday at 1 Swift Road off Ocean Heights Avenue.
