MAYS LANDING – An Egg Harbor Township woman pleaded guilty to murder and several other charges Tuesday in connection with a Taj Mahal carjacking and subsequent homicide that took place in May 2010, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.

On Tuesday, Feb. 14 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Jessica Kisby, 26, pleaded guilty to the murder of Martin Caballero, 47, of North Bergen. Kisby entered guilty pleas on seven counts, including murder, car jacking, theft of an automobile, aggravated arson and three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.

In accordance with her plea agreement, the state will recommend a sentence of 30 years in New Jersey state prison for the murder charge, of which Kisby must serve all 30 years without parole. Upon completion of the 30-year sentence, Kisby would be subject to five years of parole. Sentencing for the remaining charges Kisby pleaded guilty to will be left up to the discretion of the court.

One of the conditions of the plea agreement is that Kisby will testify truthfully as a witness in the trial of her co-defendant, Craig Arno, 46, of Atlantic City. Another condition is that Kisby will be sentenced after the conclusion of Arno’s trial. If Kisby does not testify truthfully at Arno’s trial, the state may revoke the recommendation for a 30-year sentence.

First Assistant Prosecutor James McClain represented the state. Defense attorney Steven Scheffler represented Kisby.

The trial for Arno is scheduled to for March 1.
