Black Horse Pike accident sends 2 to hospital

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Two Egg Harbor Township residents were sent to the hospital for injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on the Black Horse Pike Thursday morning, Feb. 16.

Jason French, 28, was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota east on the pike near Ridge Avenue in the Cardiff section of the township at about 9:50 a.m. when his vehicle was struck by a 2004 BMW wagon driven by Dariela Chavez, 22, who was crossing the Black Horse Pike.
Both French and Chavez were treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad. French was transported to Shore Medical Center and Chavez to AtlantiCare Mainland Campus, both with minor injuries.
Traffic was detoured for approximately 30 minutes while the crash was being investigated and cleared. Chavez was charged with failure to stop or yield at a stop sign. The crash is being investigated by Officer Louis Poletis.
