Two men injured in accident along Tilton Road

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Two men were sent to the hospital after a car accident in the Cardiff section of the township on Friday, May 18, township police said.

At approximately 6:24 a.m., Joseph J. Dougherty, 57, of North Wildwood was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry west on Tilton Road near the intersection of Larue Avenue when he struck a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Clifford J. Joseph, 35, of Egg Harbor Township which was attempting to make a left turn onto Tilton Road from Larue Avenue.

Both Dougherty and Joseph were treated at the scene.  Dougherty was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, and Joseph to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus with non-life threatening injuries.

The Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene along with members of the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, Pleasantville Fire Rescue and AtlantiCare Paramedics.  Traffic was detoured for approximately 30 minutes while the crash was being investigated and cleared. Joseph was charged with failure to stop or yield at a stop sign. The crash is being investigated by Officer Louis Poletis.
