EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - More than 48 pints of blood were donated to the Red Cross through a blood drive sponsored by the Egg Harbor Township Fire Department and its five companies on Friday, June 29 at the Farmington Volunteer Fire Company hall.
Organizer Skip Richie said the department has held a blood drive nine times in the past 10 years. A longtime donor who had to stop because of a health condition, Richie said he gives back now through organizing the blood drives.
"We can save three lives through each pint," he said.
Red Cross volunteers Angela Anderson and husband and wife Tom and Lois Guion of Northfield were on hand to help with the hospitality station and check-in table. Retiree Lois Guion said she volunteers as a way to give back and also to "get to talk to people and see new faces."
