Officials identify man who drowned in EHT quarry

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office today identified the man whose body was discovered floating in water at a local quarry late last week as Maurice Paul Tomlin, 51, of Egg Harbor Township. According autopsy results released on Friday, July 6, Tomlin died from drowning.

The body was discovered at approximately 8:30 a.m. today, Friday, July 6 in a basin at a quarry located next to Twisted Dune Golf Club after golf course workers called Egg Harbor Township Police when they spotted the dead body. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit and the county’s Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.

The Medical Examiner’s Office completed the autopsy this afternoon, which revealed the man died from asphyxia from drowning. The manner of death is pending investigation.

Twisted Dune Golf Club is located along Ocean Heights between English Creek Avenue and Swift Drive.
