Township resident arrested for growing marijuana

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP ­– A 47-year-old township man was arrested on drug charges Tuesday, July 24, police said after he was allegedly found to be growing marijuana at his Alder Avenue home. 

Darren Marro was arrested and charged with operating and maintaining a “controlled dangerous substance growth facility,” possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture or distribute more than 10 plants, possession of marijuana more than 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia associated with the cultivation of marijuana. 

Marro was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his Alder Avenue home. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between the Egg Harbor Township Police Department's Detective Cherie Burgan, and the New Jersey State Police Marijuana Eradication Unit.

Police seized numerous marijuana plants, more than 50 grams of dried marijuana, seeds and paraphernalia. 

He was sent to the Gerard L. Gormley Justice Facility in Mays Landing in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
