New administrative assignments announced, school lunch program audited
The Board of Education approved the following administrative assignments during its meeting Tuesday, July 17: Alicia Scelso, previously assistant principal at Fernwood Avenue Middle School, will now be an assistant principal at the Egg Harbor Township High School; Lisa Heenan, a 10-month assistant principal at the high school, was approved to replace retiring Glen Robbins as the 12-month assistant principal; Nicole Perone was hired as to fill Scelso’s former post as assistant principal at Fernwood; George West was hired as a new 10-month assistant principal at the high school; Latifa Potter was hired as an assistant principal at the Dr. Joyanne D. Miller School; and Kathleen Sweeder was appointed as the supervisor of special education, replacing Ronda Abraham who resigned.
The state Department of Agriculture, which oversees the National School Lunch Program for New Jersey’s schools, issued its annual review of the district’s free and reduced school lunch program on June 28 with high commendations for the district’s implementation of the program. Menu planning, accountability, records, sanitation and overall performance were praised in the report.The Food Service Department only received three minor audit findings, of which all were corrected before the review was complete. No further remediation was required.
