Township man arrested on theft charges

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 43-year-old township man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 25 and charged with theft, burglary, credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Jack C. Mason Jr. was arrested by township police in connection with an incident that happened Thursday, Aug. 23 in the parking lot of the Walgreens store on Ocean Heights Avenue in the Bargaintown section.
According to police, a victim reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle while she was in the store. The credit cards were used at various businesses in the township and Atlantic City after they were stolen, police said. The investigation led to the discovery of video surveillance of the suspect and the photos were disseminated to all township officers.
On Saturday, Aug. 25, Officer Jonathan Nieves observed a subject in the Walgreens lot that appeared to be the suspect in the theft. He stopped the suspect and conducted further investigation with the assistance of Det. Mark Wagner of the Egg Harbor Township Police Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Mason was released on a summons pending court proceedings.
