EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Egg Harbor Township Police Department has launched a safety initiative and is asking the community for assistance.

In the weeks leading up to Halloween, they are requesting that local residents check their neighborhood and routes of travel for street lights that are not operating. Police officers on patrol will be doing the same.

The goal to have all of the township’s street lights functioning by Halloween night. Street lights are installed at intersections, the end of cul-de-sacs and bends in the roadway to provide additional lighting in the most dangerous areas. Their operation is also funded by your tax dollars.

The public is asked to help with this initiative by doing the following:

If you find a street light not functioning you first need to obtain the pole number the light is attached to.

Once you have the pole number you can report the outage to Atlantic City Electric by phone or online. To report by phone call (800) 642-3780. To report the outage online see and utilize the “Online Tools” menu to the “Report a Street Light Outage” link. This will open a link to the Atlantic City Electric Street Light Problem Form.

Or go to and click on “Service Requests,” “Report an Outage,” “Street Light.” Where it says “Report the street light outage,” there is a “click here” link next “For Atlantic City Electric lights.”

Complete the form and click on “submit” to send it to Atlantic City Electric.

With the help of the residents, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department wants to make this Halloween the safest ever.
