EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Longtime Egg Harbor Township Board of Education member and current Vice President Neil Anderson lost his bid for reelection to the board on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Two other incumbents retained their seats, however, as John “Jack” Haines was reelected to serve a three-year term and Mary Ann Spiker was reelected to complete a two-year, unexpired term.

And, former board member Pete Castellano also won a three-year seat back on the board. He served for 10 years before taking a term off to care for his ailing parents.

The unofficial results for the winning candidates are:

Pete Castellano: 4,530 votes or 19.30 percent

Lisa Dagit: 3,575 votes or 15.23 percent

John "Jack" Haines: 3,883 votes or 16.55 percent

Mary Ann Spiker: 3,392 votes or 38.99 percent

Unchallenged Republican Township Committee incumbents James “Sonny” McCullough and John Carman also won reelection to their positions. McCullough garnered 51.51 percent of the vote, receiving 10,011 votes. Carman won with 48.10 percent of the vote, receiving 9,349 votes.

The men will serve three-year terms each.
