EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 26-year-old Egg Harbor Township man was arrested on drug charges after a brief struggle with police on Sunday, Jan. 6 in the Cardiff section of the township, police said.

Jason Sage was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction and resisting arrest after he allegedly attempted to flee police on foot inside the English Creek Manor mobile home park after they stopped the car he was driving. Bail was set by Municipal Court Judge H. R. Switzer at $50,000 cash.  Sage was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Sage was taken into custody after a brief struggle and was allegedly found to be in possession of seven bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Neither Sage nor the responding officers were injured in the struggle.

Police were alerted to Sage after his mother called police and stated that her son had taken her vehicle. Officer John Beattes responded to the call and after speaking with the mother, observed the car returning to the neighborhood and attempted to stop the car.
