73-year-old township man dies after being hit by car in EHT

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 73-year-old township man died from injuries he sustained when police said another 73-year-old man hit him with his car along the Black Horse Pike in the Cardiff section last night, Wednesday, January 9.

According to Egg Harbor Township Police, Enrique Acosta was crossing the eastbound lanes of the busy roadway near the intersection of Fernwood Avenue at approximately 5:34 p.m. when a 2007 Ford F150 driven by John Edward Pino, 73, of Springfield, Pa. hit Acosta.

Acosta suffered life-threatening injuries from the crash and was transported by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the Trauma Unit.

Eastbound traffic along the Black Horse Pike was detoured for approximately three hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared.

The fatal crash is being investigated by Sgt. Albert Maiorano and Officer Robert Moran.
