The following is a report of recent activity by the Egg Harbor Township Fire Department’s volunteer fire companies:

The Cardiff and Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 to the Shore Mall for smoke in the building, Upon the arrival of Cardiff Assistant Chief Steve Sear reported a light smoke condition in the building. Cardiff Fire Chief Rob Winkler arrived an assumed command and had all arriving fire personal to enter the building to find the source of the smoke. When Tower 15 truck arrived, the ladder was raised to the roof and firefighters went on top to check the roof units. Fire personal were on the scene for approximately two hours. 

 

The Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at 4:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 to 1066 Ocean Heights Ave. for the report of a motor vehicle crash with fire. Egg Harbor Township Police officers arrived first and informed the firefighters that vehicle’s the driver was found standing outside the vehicle unhurt and that the vehicle had struck a pole and turned over.
 When the Cardiff fire company arrived, Chief Rob Winkler assumed command and first had the firefighters check the battery to make sure it was disconnected. The cleared the scene in fifteen minutes.
