Improved shuttle route is still $1 each way

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Nine months after its first bus took to the road, the English Creek-Tilton Road Community Shuttle is improving its services with the addition of more buses and more free connections to New Jersey Transit bus routes, effective July 1.

The English Creek-Tilton Road Community Shuttle launched service on October 1, 2012 along an 18-mile route between Egg Harbor Township and Northfield.

The newly revised schedule includes 14 designated stops, five of which will provide customers with free access to NJ Transit routes 502, 507 and 509 so they may extend their travel to Somers Point, Ocean City, Atlantic City and Mays Landing.

The one-way shuttle fare remains $1. The shuttle will continue to run seven days a week with service between 7 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

“The English Creek-Tilton Road Community Shuttle is ideal for job hunters as well as many others who need reliable, inexpensive transportation to medical appointments, shopping, movies, dining and more,” stated Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson in a press released issued about the changes. “By studying shuttle ridership over the past several months they have been able to fine-tune the schedule and add several buses to better meet demand.”

The service will be greatly enhanced with the additional vehicles, according to Ronda Urkowitz of Cross County Connection.

“Buses will run approximately every 45 minutes rather than every two hours,” Urkowitz said.

Nearly 5,000 households are located within proximity of the shuttle route. The shuttle also offers full accessibility. Service animals and portable oxygen tanks are permitted on board.

For additional customer assistance for those with special needs, a New Jersey relay operator is available at 1(800) 852-7899 or 7-1-1.

The English Creek-Tilton Road Community Shuttle is a public-private cooperative effort of the Pascale Sykes Foundation, Atlantic County, South Jersey Transportation Authority, Cross County Connection and Family Service Association.
