EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – It took almost a full year, but the final touches are being completed on the repair of the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company’s hall on Somers Point-Mays Landing Road in Egg Harbor Township.

“This year we have been through a lot mentally, physically and financially. I am very proud of the members of this organization for their strength, courage and resolve over the past eleven months working as a team and rebuilding what was lost,” said Joshua Wilson, the company’s president, who also went on to thank the community for its support in a written statement issued Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The hall suffered severe damage as a result of Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, including a complete loss of all the commercial kitchen equipment that allowed the hall to be rented out for events as a way to generate funds for the volunteer company. (Read more about the damage HERE.)

“We are close to finishing up the repairs from Super Storm Sandy, but I wholeheartedly believe we could not have gotten to this point without you, the residents of Egg Harbor Township- our neighbors, friends, loved ones and local organizations. The support we receive from you is overwhelming. The donations, waves from you as we pass by, thank yous and words of encouragement from you all has helped us get through this difficult time.

“On behalf of the members and auxiliary of the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company #3 of Egg Harbor Township. Thank you. You are our heroes.”
