EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Named by Bicycling Magazine as the “Best Cycling Getaway in New Jersey,” the Bike MS: City to Shore Ride will be bringing thousands of cyclists through Egg Harbor Township and the region on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29.

The approximately 7,000 cyclists of all ages and cycling abilities will make one final stop in Egg Harbor Township at the Atlantic Christian School on their long trek from Cherry Hill to Ocean City. Before they arrive here, they will get a chance to stop in Waterford, Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and Mays Landing.

The annual event is a fundraiser for National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The disease, referred to as MS, is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system.

City to Shore Rider participants get a chance to select several different routes through the quaint towns and back roads of southern New Jersey.

“Pedal through the blueberry fields of Hammonton, experience the serene beauty of the Pine Barrens and listen to the waves as you roll into historic Ocean City,” the promotional information says.

The routes offer one-day options of 25 to 100 miles or two-day options of 75 or 100 mile loops.

All of the rest stops are themed and stocked with refreshments for the cyclists. Bike mechanics are also on hand to assist as needed. Supporters are welcome to gather at the stops to cheer the participants on during the event.

The route through Egg Harbor Township is already marked with signs advising motorists to prepare for delays or find alternative routes to their destinations.
