EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has released wrist and foot tattoo photos taken from the unidentified female body found Sunday behind the former Shore Mall.

The prosecutor’s office and the Egg Harbor Township Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying the woman, who was found in a wooded area near the intersection of Broadway and Ninth avenues.

The prosecutor’s office released photos of a tattoo found on her right wrist and on her right foot. Anyone who recognizes these tattoos is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666.

Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said a hunter found the body at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.

The hunter, who is an area police officer, immediately contacted township police.

McClain said investigators still are unsure how long the body had been left there. A state medial anthropologist is also being consulted due to the advanced decomposition of the remains, McClain said.

The victim’s age and race have yet to be determined, McClain said.

Additional information will be released when appropriate, McClain said.
